It is therefore designed to guide you through many aspects of your time as a student and provides useful links to information available through the University\u2019s website, as well as summarising the facilities and support services that are available across the University and how you can access them. It also outlines what you should expect of the School and what they can expect from you, and clarifies the policies and procedures relevant to your area of study.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Currency <\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">If you have opted to study a 15-credit unit, course unit credits are current for three calendar years, effective from the start date of the course unit. Non-credit bearing or zero-credit units are awarded a certificate on successful completion of the formative tasks and engagement in online discussions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Student Engagement<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">There is an expectation that students will engage in all learning activities, and it is the University&#8217;s responsibility to monitor the well-being and progress of students. However, we recognise that students on this programme may not be able to attend all synchronous activities. Therefore, when possible, synchronous sessions will be recorded for you to access another time. Check your unit timetable in the Blackboard space for individual sessions. Some units are 100% distance learning and do not include synchronous sessions. To help us ensure you are engaging and understanding the material each unit of study has formative quizzes to check your understanding of the topic so far. There is a considerable amount of time allocated to independent study. It is important that you organise yourself and your work for the course unit to utilise these hours to undertake the additional reading and preparation of course work as directed by the course unit leader\/s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">You are expected to engage in online tasks and discussions as directed in your individual unit. The SLT CPD units are designed to be delivered via eLearning, although some units may have scheduled online meetings with your tutor. Ensure you check your unit timetable. If you are taking a 0-credit version of a unit, you will need to complete the formative assessments in order to receive your certificate of completion at the end of the course.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><em>Summative Assessment <\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">If you are taking a 15-credit unit, details of the summative assessment can be found in the course unit\u2019s Blackboard teaching space. Ensure you understand the aims and objectives of the assessment and make a note of the submission due date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">STUDENTS SHOULD NOTE THAT A REFERENCE LIST SHOULD BE SUBMITTED AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THEIR ASSIGNMENT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">For any student who has cited throughout their summative assessment submission but failed to provide a reference list, the assessment will be marked, following which and a 10% reduction will be applied by the marker. When undertaking any formative or summative assessment protection of confidentially concerning the patient, care environment, staff or organisation is to be always maintained. If you are unsure whether your work may contravene the HCPC code, you should discuss this with your course unit lead at the earliest opportunity. Students may be permitted to view their provisional marks and feedback prior to the exam board on the understanding that no mark is finalised until this process has been completed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">For students who receive a mark of under 50% for a summative piece of work, a resit assignment can be arranged with the course tutor with an agreed resubmission date.
